CSMTA’s Membership year is January 1 to December 31. The renewal deadline is yearly on December 1.

Everyone initially joins as either a Certification Candidate or Student.

Current members will be sent a renewal notice directly to them in the fall.

    Membership Level Upgrades

    Those members wishing to update their student membership to a certificate candidate or to make their current membership inactive should contact the National Office Coordinator at natoffice@csmta.ca for the process and dues information.

    Renewal of Membership

    As an active member, when your membership is up for renewal an email will be sent directly to you.  To maintain your membership in good standing all membership fees must be paid and all documents must be valid. 

    Student members will not be required to submit additional information to maintain their membership, only pay the required membership fee.

    The required documents for Certificate Candidates and Certified Members include:

    • Proof of Liability Insurance
    • Proof of Good Standing with your Provincial Organization
    • Proof of Standard First Aid Course with CPR (Certificate Candidate)
    • Sports First Responder with CPR (Certified members) – Note that Certificate Candidates may wish to submit this higher level of certification in place of the lower Standard First Aid certification, especially in preparation for taking the Oral Practical exam as it is a requirement.
    • New in 2021 renewal period is the requirement for a criminal record check every 2 years.  Please see the members only section for a link to fulfill your requirements with MyBackCheck.

    Reinstatement of Certificate Candidate Memberships

    After 1-2 years of not being a member, Certificate Candidate members must pay the current membership fee, have current First Responder or First Aid certificate and pay an administration fee of $15.  Please note that any hours generated during this period time will only go towards your non-membership hours which has a  maximum of 150 hours.

    After 3-4 years of not being a member, Certificate Candidate members must pay membership fee as well as $160 for not paying in the ceased years, have documentation of at least 50 hours of sport massage experience in the ceased years or has to generate those hours when becoming a member again. This will include  documentation of 2 letters of reference from either an event organizer and/or team official (coach/ manager).

    Reinstatement of Certified Memberships

    Document Submission

    When submitting your documents for approval please ensure that they are clear and easy to read.  There is more than one way to scan your documents.  We only ask that they are clear and easy to read.  If using your phone, we recommend using the app called Adobe Scan as it makes clear and clean copies of your important documents and you can send all of your pages in one pdf document to the National Office.
